Biography
Kirsten is the COO of The Fork, a company founded by Marieke de Ruyter de Wildt, which operates at the frontier of blockchain technology.
Kirsten Coppoolse discovered blockchain by accident. After studying art history at the University of Amsterdam and working in art in various roles, she went back to the UvA for a master’s in religious studies, with the aim of finding a way in which she could contribute to creating a better world. Kirsten found what she was looking for while working on a project for improving digital human rights: blockchain technology. She immersed herself in the Dutch blockchain scene, founded a meetup and started working in a blockchain start-up, inblock.io . Since then, she has been a passionate campaigner for the design and development of blockchain based systems to achieve global food integrity.
Kirsten has spoken widely on the ways in which blockchain can shape our future for the better. She regularly organises the Blockchain for Society meetup in Amsterdam. Overseeing The Fork’s operations, she arranges blockchain courses in Amsterdam, blockchain in-house trainings and assists companies in the agrifood industry in implementing blockchain technology.
Arguing that Blockchain technology is often incorrectly equated to cryptocurrencies, she designs and develops implementations that are so much more to prove the point. Believing that the proof of Blockchain can be seen in its implementation and development, Kirsten focuses on achieving practical and often much needed solutions in the agrifood industry. Kirsten focuses in particular on solutions that can drastically boost efficiency and transparency in the food supply chain.
